About Us
We are
a grassroots group dedicated to improving the quality of life. We operate
by having a clear vision of the way ahead and setting out the actions
needed in order to achieve the vision. We then take action either directly,
or by encouraging and supporting others, or by influencing those in
power.
At present we operate in the following area
Traffic
& Parking
Crossgate
Village Minutes
Peskies
Park Day
Later we will also cover:
Local democracy
Waste, litter, and pollution
Energy efficiency and renewable energy
Wildlife and biodiversity
Leisure facilities
Food and local food production
Housing
Local economy
Local community

We are based in Durham City and this is the main focus of our
work. We are well aware, however, of the need to embrace a broader
outlook. While we act locally we also think globally. Our approach
is to support action that is sustainable.
We preserve the achievements of
the past and we respect the interests of future generations. The
three towers in our logo symbolise our commitment to give equal
weighting to the environment, the local economy, and community
needs. All three elements are needed in order to build a better
and more stable future.

You can get involved at various levels with our work. You can
either participate in an individual area such
as parking. We are currently looking for people to head up individual
areas as well as general participation. Alternatively, you can
take a more active overall role
in all areas.
